I would like to share my experience I faced on 17 th May 2022 in Raj Park Hotel, Chennai, an interview for many categories of job vacancies for the ADGAS Shutdown Project in Abu Dhabi carried out by more than 3 HR agencies including Seagull International.
I started my journey from my living place, Madurai to Chenani at 9 PM 16 May 2022.
I was told to be at Raj Park Hotel on or before 7 30 Am in the shortlisting interview for which also I went in person before 2 weeks from Madurai to Chennai.
So, I reached the interview place at 7 30 AM 17 May 2022. Let me list down what are the things I did since 7 30 AM on the interview date.
1. I was given the application form by a Seagul representative at the gate of Raj Park Hotel.
2. I was asked to go to the 7 th floor of the hotel.
3. I preferred to use the staircase as a group of people was waiting for the elevator ( lift ) to come down.
4. When I reached 7th floor of the building, I saw a huge crowd of candidates, some of them were sitting, some were standing, some were filling up their application forms and many were standing in front of the counter of all HR agencies like Seagull, F Gheewalk, JD and others.
5. I got a seat and filled up my application form for HSE ( Health Safety and Environment ) lead coordinator post and gave it to the hand of one of the Seagul representatives. He shouted at me why did you not stick your photo and then he sticked it by himself.
6. I went back to my seat and I was sitting. All I could hear was, - everybody please move back and stay away from the counter' and nothing else.
7. After an hour or a couple of hours, the HR representative of the client came and he shouted, do we have any Rigging supervisor here, when he shouted, he was standing on a chair to make his announcement audible to everyone and to make everyone to see him. My personal opinion is, this is not a job of the client, the agencies must have done some arrangements.
8. Then I continued my waiting and looking on the HR agencies representatives for more than 4 hours. Then I realized that, it is lunch.
9. I started to get out of Raj Pak hotel for lunch. But, exactly at that time, some body closed the doors of the interview place and they said, nobody can go outside, if someone goes out, they can not come back. I asked for a reason and they said, Chief Minister if in rounds and if they find that we have a crowd of people here, they may even seal the whole building.
10. After a flash, 2 policemen came to the interview place and they were talking something to the agency representatives. I noticed that the banner of F Gheewala consultancy which was hanging on the wall of the interview place was taken off and made the wall blank.
11. Then the HR representative of the client came to the interview hall and he made some arrangements among the candidates and he taught the HR agencies on how to manage the crowd a little bit.
12. Only after that did some of the Seagull candidates start moving from the interview hall to the client's interview room.
13. HSE candidates were called as the last category of the interview.
14. We all the HSE candidates made a queue and started moving to the interview hall.
15. Here the major tragedy was waiting for us. After we started moving from the waiting hall, another category of people were announced to move with us, So it is more than 200 candidates moving at the same time towards the interview room which is located at the 8th floor of the building and all these more than 200 candidates have to move through the staircase and the beauty is there is no one to control/direct us from the waiting hall to the interview hall.
16. First we passed a room in which the HSE queue got split into more than 3 lines and we all got scattered.
17. There was a glass door in between 2 rooms where both rooms had full of candidates.
18. Most of the candidates got tired before passing through these 2 rooms.
19. after crossing these 2 rooms, we started climbing on the staircase with full of candidates.
20. It took us 3 hours to stand on the staircase. In between, some HR agency representatives or client representatives were also moving through the staircase because the client had to get the staircase from 8th floor to 7th floor for the restroom.
21. In the middle, one of the Seagull agency representatives made an unnecessary announcement to us that the client - HSE interviewer is sitting idle and he insisted all the HSE candidates to move faster to the interview hall.
22. On hearing this, HSE candidates tried to move forward in the staircase. In this many got suffocation and started shouting, don't push, please.
23. Then another Seagull representative came, and one of the candidates in the staircase crowd asked him for water. He said I have nothing to give you. Please don't ask me anything. Then another argument was started and the Seagull representative was continuously saying that the candidates are the reasons for these tragedies.
24. However, we reached on top of the staircase and gave our CV's inside the interview hall and were waiting in a narrow storeroom in which many benches, tables, and other unwanted things were there. The room was dark, and the room was hot. Inside that small room, more than 50 candidates were standing without even space for keeping our leg foot.
25. we were waiting in that room for more than 5 hours. No one called HSe candidates in.
26. In frustration, some of the HSe candidates shouted, give me my passport back. The HR agencies called only those problematic guys inside the interview hall and conducted interviews.
27. Time passed to midnight 11 PM. They called me in who came 7 30 Am in the morning.
28. I did not perform the interview well because I got exhausted, I was tired and frustrated.
This is just for sharing my experience in that interview for ADGAS Shutdown Project in Abu Dhabi conducted by Seagull international in Chennai.
