How to do first aid for - Electric Shock, Asthma, Immersed in water, nose bleeding, Bone Fractures; Sprains, Fits & Heart Problems

First Aid is the medical aid which is given to a victim ( sick or injured ) before taking him to the hospital for treatment.

But when doing first aid, time is doing the major role, that we should do the First Aid at the right earliest time. It is very essential for all people regardless of profession to know about what kind of first aid should be given for which kind of trouble.

When is the first Aid day comes?

The world first aid day is - 2nd September of every year.

We shall look about for which kind of sick / injury or other troubles, which kind of First Aid should be given.



First Aid for Aasthma:


Aasthma is one of the worst diseases that should be taken care earlier else it can even kill the soul.

Symptoms for Aastma:

1. Heavy breathing

2. Breathing with noise

3. Struggling for breathing

4. Sprain at chest when breathing

5. Unable to talk

6. Lips and face getting blue color.

What is the first aid for Aasthma:

Make the victim to sit on a chair or sit by leaning on wall with vertical back. Make the victim to sit with the support of hand on the floor. If you have the inhaler for Asthma in hand, then give it to the victim to inhale with this position for 3 or 4 times. If you don't have any medicine in hand, do not try to do any first aid and get the victim to the hospital without wasting time.

At the time of electric shock, the victim will have breath and blood circulation affected and will have burn injuries where ever the electricity entered in the body of the victim.

What is the first aid for Electric shock:

1. If you know the switch, turn the switch off. If you donot know where is the switch, then use any electrical isolated materials like, wooden piece /  strong plastic and dis connect the body part of the victim from the electricity supply. If the victim has conscious then check for blood circulation by checking their pulse and get ready to do CPR ( Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation )

2. Tie wet cloths on the burn injured spots of the body of the victim for about 10 minutes and then replace the wet cloth with the normal dry cloth to tie on the burn injured spots.

Immersion in Water:


At this type of situation, the victim's body will get cool and will get ceased breath which can lead to death.

First aid for Immersion in water:


1. Get the victim out of the water with safe practice.

2. Get the victim to lay

Get them into the perfect rescue position ( At rescue position, the victim will lay down side wise by giving his / her one hand to support their head by themselves and the knee of one leg to be on ground to stop rolling of the victim to stomach) and lift the victim by grabbing the stomach of the victim to get the water out. Repeat this lifting activities for two or three times.

Doing like this, will get the throat of the victim clear. Now make the victim to lay upwards and clean their mouth and nose holes and start doing the CPR. Replace the wet cloth of the victim with the dry normal cloth.

When the water goes through the breathing path, it will create inflation on the path and the same can cause for the block of the breath in 2 or 3 hours of time. So, admit the victim in the hospital without delaying. If the victim is unconscious soon after drowning in the water, get to the hospital without wasting time.

Symptoms of Bone Fracture:

1. Severe pain at the affected area.

2. Swellings on the affected area

3. Blood clots on the fractured area

4. Severe pain when trying to move the affected body part.

First Aid for Bone Fracture:

1. Ask the victim not to move the fractured body part

2. Give artificial support for the affected part preventing accidental movement.

3. If possible give the support for the affected part with another body part of the victim. For Ex: If the fracture is on hand, tie the hand with the neck of the victim.

4. If the fracture is on the places like the ankle of the leg or on the fingers, give a strong lengthy comb between the skin of the body and the cloth in which you are tying the cloth.

First Aid for Sprains and Muscle Spasms:

Symptoms for Sprains and Muscle Spasms:

1. Pain

2. Reduced Knee Movements

3. Swellings

4. Blood clots

The first aid method for the Sprains and Muscle Spasms are shortly called as RICE ie)

a) R - Rest

b) I - Ice or wet cloth

c) C - Compress the affected structure ( Eg : Tie the affected area with a cloth ).

d) E - Elevate the affected area of the body


When tying the cloth for swelled sprains, make sure that the knot is not so tight. Repeat this RICE activity for every 20 minutes upto getting well.

First Aid for Fits:


Symptoms of Fits:

1. Body parts seems twisted ( hand and legs )

2. Confused mind

3. Fits movement of the hand and leg

4. Strong and heavy breath

5. Teeth biting ; Some times biting the tongue and bleeding with saliva out from mouth.

First Aid for Fits:

1. Hold the victim and resist them getting any head injury.

2. Put lot of clothes underneath to prevent the scratches on the skin of the victim.

3. Remove all sharp edged materials out of the reach of the victim.

4. Loosen the clothes nearby the chest and neck of the victim.

5. If the victim is unconscious after fits, check for the blood circulation and breath. If both breath and blood circulation are ok, then make the victim to lay down in the rescue position.

First Aid for Heart Problems:


Chest Pain:

Symptoms for Chest Pain:

1. Pain on the lower part of Chest

2. Pain travels from Chest to the hand through jaw of mouth.

3. Strong upper breath and then gets weak .

First Aid for Chest Pain:

1. Make the victim to sit and loosen the clothes of the victim from the neck, chest / breast and hip part.

2. Ask the victim to get a relaxed breath and give the victim courage.

3. If you have any tablet for chest pain prescribed by the doctor already, ask the victim to keep the tablet under his / her tongue and inhale the liquid from the tablet.

First Aid for Sudden Heart Failure:


Symptoms:

1. Lower chest pain for a longer period of time

2. Peak level scarcity will happen for the victim.

3. Paled face

4. Blue colored lips

5. Lots of Sweatings

6. Dizziness

7. Confusion

8. Vomiting; shivering in the fingers

First Aid for Heart Failure:


1. Call emergency number

2. If any prescribed medicine is already there with you, give that to the victim

3. Give courage to the victim and give his / her some rest

4. Make the victim lay back ward and loosen the chest / breast clothes; neck clothes

5. Fold the leg knees and put a pillow / clothes in between

6. If there is no prescribed medicine, give a Asprine tablets to the victim under his / her tongue and ask victim to inhale the liquid of the tablet.

7. Make the victim to sit and go to the emergency vehicle instead of walking.

First Aid for bleeding from nose:


Symptoms:

1. Fast bleeding from nose

2. Sneezing

3. High blood pressure

4. Fever like flu

First aid for Bleeding from Nose:

1. Make the victim to be sitting and make his head front.

2. Ask the victim to breath through mouth for sometime.

3. Talking, eating and other things shall be stopped for some time upto the bleeding stops.

4. Press the nose bone downwards for ten minutes. Do clean the nose after 2 hours of time.
